The release of great CD production could
not take place in a better place in the city of Seattle other than
The Century Ballroom. Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loca were in the
Emerald City on a great party night for the promotion of their latest
CD “Isabela”. To the delight of the Northwest Salsa
community, while fully satisfied, they called for more “craziness”
from the Makina Loca.
It was an exceptional night with exquisite salsa from all points
of view. As Ricardo Lemvo himself told us, these songs were inspired
and had deep roots going back to Africa, the source of his creativity.
This influence has even reached his own family as he not only named
his newly born daughter Isabela, but also the CD and one of its
tracks as well as his newly born daughter.
Ricardo Lemvo gave us the best of his charisma in each one of the
interpretations from his recent material. But good rhythm and nice
lyrics weren’t the only features of the party; the environment,
the energy and comradrarie on the dance floor was what Ricardo created
in a true spectacular night. One of the best dance floors in the
Northwest enjoyed a real showman that night.
There was variety and a lot of fun for everyone. Great quality
music for those who love to dance the whole night long, top musicians
to admire for their great talent and dancers that made Ricardo's
presentation on the scenario shine even more.
But Ricardo Lemvo and Makina Loca allowed many of the present to
explore new musical territory. Rarely do we see Afro Caribbean presentations
sung in several languages. Themes interpreted by Ricardo in Portuguese,
Spanish, Lingala, Kikongo, Swahili and Turkish were the delight
for those who admire the refreshing rhythms sung in variety of languages.
This allowed us to see the extent of the richness of Afro Caribbean
music, having neither language barriers nor frontiers to enjoy it
to its fullness.
“Kasongo Boogaloo”, “O Casamento”, “Mentirosa”,
“Pap Na Bana” and many other themes inspired the dancers
on the floor; who found in them deep inspiration to demonstrate
the energy transmitted by the songs that night. Daring and professional
steps & moves were seen all around as couples gave their best
as they danced.
The scenario overflowed with good spirit at the hands of the musicians,
as they were accompanied by exotic dancers demonstrating professionalism
in their choreographies. From boogaloo, charanga, congo rumba, son
and salsa these dance beauties complemented the presentation for
the pleasure of many who were quite attentive to their detailed
movements, capturing the moments with opportune photos.
The Century Ballroom in Seattle was again the center of the spectacle
with this celebration party announcing the release of the latest
material of Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loka, “Isabela”.
And Seattle marked the starting point in their West Coast Tour,
which entails a busy calendar for the salsa band, as Ricardo confirmed
at the end of their presentation. A promotional tour, that heads
south to Los Angeles, before visiting Colorado and other states.
Congratulations and much success for Ricardo Lemvo & Makina
Loka.
For all those present, we left with the satisfaction of having
witnessed a first class show, presented by Gustavo “El General”,
a performance in a fantastic place for salsa, and excellent music
by Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loka, who by the way invite us all
to continue enjoying salsa!
Well dear salsa friends, warm wishes for everyone, from the Northwest
corner of the United States. We will stay in touch and always with
a lot of salsa!
