With great pleasure we had the opportunity
to attend the presentation of one of the most recognized Orchestras
of the Seattle area in one of the clubs also known by its continous
promotion of Latin music especially Afro Caribbean rhythms,
the China Harbor.
China Harbor opened its doors to a great group of salseros of the
Puget Sound;oin this occasion to admire exclusively the music of
Orchestra Nueva Era and of course to dance to the wide repertoire
of its original songs; as always they wrapped the presents with
the music, so that nobody was left sit down, since their notes were
full with energy and high rhythm.
“Aquí te Traigo Sabrosura”, “Me muero
por mirarte”, “Busquenla”, were some of the songs
of their production “Siguiendo la Tradición”.
This magic production is being both recognized and listened in many
different ways; not just in the area but worldwide through some
musical sites in the web. The acceptance has been great that this
orchestra, pride of the northwest region, has won a nomination in
the important recognition to the music the Latin Grammy. Also, it
has become fundamental part of international shows; by being those
in charge of warming up the atmosphere before the presentation of
some international artist that performs in the city of Seattle.
But the orchestra's task is not just being in charge of the openings
at the concerts; Nueva Era is solidifying a trajectory by taking
salsa to other dimensions. During the summer of 2007, they were
the principal attraction presented in the Latin Festival at Edmonds
Community College where everybody enjoyed dancing salsa outdoors.
They also opened for Gilberto Santa Rosa's concert
that visited Seattle recentl. And as an exclusive of Americasalsa
let me tell you that they will be the ambassadors of Latin culture
in some of the future shows of sport teams of Seattle, since they
will be opening the Latin night of baseball with the Mariners and
giving a touch of salsa at half time in one of the
Seattle Seahawks's football games.
Backstage in China Harbor, we had the opportunity to talk with
Nueva Era’s director Steve Guasch, and he expressed that there
are many projects that come for Nueva Era, like the production of
its second CD, presentations around the Northwest and an international
tour that everybody will find out about. Congratulations for the many
goals accomplished!
So, don't forget, if you like the good rhythm and great percussion
this CD “Siguiendo la Tradición” from Steve's
Guasch y su Orquesta Nueva Era, has to be part of your personal
collection.
Regarding that night's production organized by Alsy Promotions, it included
Nueva Era as well as a well known DJ within the salsa world: Edgar
“el travieso de la Salsa” exclusively from Mexico DF. Alsy Promotions is actively promulgating Latin music in general; both local and international
artists, various clubs and very soon a great tropical concert with
several famous groups that will be visiting the Emerald City.
As far as the salsa movement is concerned, we can assure you that it continues in constant
growth; day by day, by either faithfully visiting the clubs and their
Latin nights or preserving the accumulated energy to take it out
during the live performances of international artists that continue
visiting the city of Seattle with greater frequency.
So today, more than ever, artists, promoters, the general
public and the media are all being an important part of the development
of the waveof tropical salsa that it is “in” and continues
“pa’rriba” throughout the whole Puget Sound of
the State of Washington. Kudos! for all the folks involved in this
movement; good for all those that enjoy the world of the salsa.
Okay, my friends of Americasalsa, stay tuned because many activities
are on the way soon, in the upcoming days. Meanwhile, keep enjoying!
A warm good bye from your friend in Seattle, WA.
